[RC] re: rules for girth length - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Well I like to have the girth, or girth and pad, long enough so that the
buckles or ring are up on the saddle pad. Only factor for too long far as I'm
concerned is running out of room to take up the cinch during a ride, which is
only an inch or 2.

If the rubs are not from billets/buckles but are where the cinch itself sits
I'd be changing the girth material rather than length
of girth.

Any "rules" on how long a girth should be? To put it another way, where should
the rings/buckles sit? Parallel to the point of the shoulder? Parallel to the
heart? How do you determine the best length?

terre (a friend's horse is being plagued by "rubs")
