Re: [RC] Riding after a mastectomy? - Suzi Maiorisi

With regards to 'flat in the chest', I will tell you that once my sister started back riding she was soon determined to have the other breast removed and replaced to match the other as one 'flapping' and the other being still was most uncomfortable.  Also gives any recurrence one less place to start.

She needs to voice this to her doctor.  Any surgery can expect to take about 6 weeks to heal.  I have wondered if being 'flat in the chest' would be an advantage for riding... seems it is hard to keep the chest from bounceing.  Hope your friend does well.  Vits usually help the healing process.  mas

Subject: [RC] Riding after a mastectomy?

My best riding buddy is having a mastectomy next week. Could some one let me know an approx. time span for being able to get back to riding? She's pretty young, only 41. This came as quite a shock.

Thanks!
