[RC] Stream crossings and training - Sisu West Ranch

"...decided to just get off and lead Him thru ..."

As I mentioned in my first post, quite by accident I found out years ago preventing fights, and leading through or by scary things works fine. The only thing I usually do differently is to make the leading thing into a lesson and lead back and fourth until I can ride. Sometimes I have lead a horse 10 or more times through the obstacle.

One does have to be careful not to get jumped on though. As with many things, I am not completely sure how I prevent that. I think it has something to do with not pulling on the lead while standing in front facing the horse. I do try to keep my arm extended, so the horse is not lined up with me and perhaps I also stand in an area that does not look like the best or safest place to jump.

Before I get to smug, I will remember that sooner or later I will probably misjudge the situation and get jumped on. Oh well, we are involved in an extreme sport.
