[RC] what to look for in a horse - Mary Maynard

The first thing I look at is how they move; I like impulsion. I want a balanced body, good feet, big heart girth, endurance bloodlines, personable disposition and a huge desire to eat and drink.
If I was picking out of three and they all had these traits then I would pick the pack leader/alpha horse.
Of course I prefer mares but I do own one gelding and think perhaps he will make a great 100 miler because he lives to eat and drink.
My 4 yr old and 5 yr old have Bezatal and Karahty bloodlines; proven lines in endurance helps,  but is not always the key. Just look at all those other breeds that have done so well in this sport.
