After that was when the rider in questioned was DQed for supplementing with 
sugar based on blood analysis. The head vet made the decision. Rule 13 is 
pretty clear about invasive procedures and drawing blood to determine what 
needs to be put into the horse to go on does seem to cross that line.

That's logical. Better to kill the horse blindly trying to finish. Once the 
non-invasive ways of measuring blood glucose reatltime are on the market, the 
AERC will have to come up with Rule 13a to dumb you all back down again.

But, as stated before, there is no need to pull blood during a ride if you've 
done your homework before hand.
