==========================================

Step, the quick way to determine heart factor is ultrasound left ventricular
volume measurement. If that does not tie with lower RHR, then you have extreme
O2 uptake capacity (mainly capillary and mitochondrial density). If you have a
low RHR and a big heart, then there is plenty of room to build O2 uptake
capacity. heart size is difficult to change.

Ultrasound can also measure contractile fraction at the same time as size.
Typically tracks inversely with heart size, but positively with fitness level.
Horse has to be standing still, though. hard to measure maximal contractile
fraction without the use of drugs.
