[RC] [RC] 'endurance'/LD/fun rides - rides2far

Of course it does! But how do you get someone who has NEVER spoken
face to face with a real live endurance rider (I had been riding and
showing horses for 17 years before I did) to BELIEVE that they DO welcome
and respect all riders, whether they are front runners or turtle
contenders? That it is NOT that difficult to follow marked trails?
That it is not an equine >>>>>>beauty pagent or a special clique?

You make some good points. I'm from pretty much the same background as
you. I did have a person recruit me to go to my first ride. She wasn't
terribly experienced, but did encourage me and give me advice on how to
get there. The education committee is trying to figure out the best way
to get new riders through this period. I may come over to someone who I'm
not communicating my attitude clearly to as "elitest". I actually have
too poor a self image to be elitest. I'm more a person who figures if I
can do it *surely* everyone else can. I am more frustrated. I believe I
have more faith in people than they have in themselves. The Education
committee hopes to have some good clinic material available soon. Some
envision clinics in conjunction with rides with a fun ride included. I
see myself more going out to a riding club at their meeting to do a talk,
then organizing a trail ride where we could go over what to expect when
they get to a ride.

Whatever the plan. I think we all love this sport or we wouldn't be
hanging around on this site...and we want to make sure that if there are
others out there like us who haven't found it yet that they get a chance.
Hopefully, we'll find them before they shoot themselves after attending a
horse show. >g<

I argue very well. Ask any of my remaining friends.
I can win an argument on any topic. People know this and steer clear of
me at parties.
Often as a sign of their great respect, they don't even invite me. Dave
