[RC] Why people don't do 100s - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I haven't seen this response yet - apologies if I just
missed it.

I don't do 100s because 1) there aren't any in MN 2) I have a
21 year old horse (we ARE striving to do a 50 before she
retires) but the BIGGEST reason is that I simply don't have
time to condition that much. I'm sure a lot of people are
in the same boat. I have a regular office job and am usually
gone from 7am - 7pm during the week. By the time I make
dinner and feed the animals, it's time for bed.
On the weekends, there is the property to take care of and
other things. Sometimes a month will go by before I ride.
Even if my horse could do a 100, <I> don't have the necessary fitness. So if
time to train is an issue, I don't think
there is a lot you can do to encourage more people to enter.
You wouldn't want to pressure people into entering
unprepared horses in 100s.

I also think that, particularly in regions where there
are rides just about every weekend, people get competitive
for year-end awards and don't want to risk losing an entire
weekend of points to try a 100 and fail. Having more
elevator rides might help that.
