[RC] Guest poster - dogs - Jessica Spoone-Raines

Like it was said there is nothing wrong with not liking dogs. I have 2 of them
and only 1 of them would I consider bringing to a ride with me. He is well
mannered to dogs, horses and people. He is taught not to jump but occasionally
gets too excited and forgets. His leash has to hand holds on it, one is at the
end of a 10ish foot line the other brings him up close to me, within a foot. My
standard practice no matter where we are walking is to let him roam on the long
part until somebody is within 20 or so feet of us then he gets brought up until
we're past them. That said I would never take exception to somebody calling out
an "I don't like dogs so please keep him away" type warning but if somebody
tried to kick him they would get knocked on their rump for it. There is no call
to kick a dog that is on a leash when a warning will call the owners attention
to it quite nicely. As for kids at a ride well I think that comment by "guest"
was entirely ridiculous.
