Re: [RC] [GaitedEnduranceRiders] WHY TROT? - RibbonRidg

Hi Amber,
I am replying not to start a controversy but just to put a plug in for the "other side."
You asked why anyone with a smooth-riding horse would want to trot?
1) to rest my body
2) to rest the horse
3 to exercise different muscle groups - his and mine
4) because we can and still not lose the gaits. (Contrary to old wives' tales, trotting a gaited horse does not make him less able to gait, in fact, it improves many pacey horses.)
I'm sure if I thought about it, I could come up with more reasons, ha ha, but I just got done with 3 12-hour night shifts and am not too smart this morning.
Have a great day, and see how many gears these guys have.  It might surprise you!
