This was my experience also with these saddles. I tried four of them a while 
back and thought maybe it was the conformation of my own horses but later 
learned that a lot of people had the same problems with them. I saw a lot of 
Gaston Mercier saddles at the Florac 100 in France and a lot of sore horse 
backs. He certainly designs very unique and beautiful saddles and spends a lot 
of money in advertizing especially in France so a lot of newbies think it is 
THE saddle to buy. However, a lot of experienced riders seem to use other 
saddles.
