Re: [RC] [RC] Anti-chafe for people? - April

I don't know if it will hurt leather as I own very little leather tack, but Body Glide works great for me to reduce rubs and there is not the mess of vaseline. I reapply at vet checks if I remember, but often don't.

When I ride, I have a tendency to chafe around the knee area, or just behind the knee, particularly if there's a fair bit of fast downhill trotting.  (The long downhill at Paulina Peak comes to mind.)  It has gotten better over time, but there's still a bit a tendency there.  My current solution is to put some Vaseline on the inside of my knees and that, in combination with some nice (also expensive) full seat breeches, lets me complete with no rubs at all.  But I am concerned that I am going to ruin the leather on breeches.  So,

I have two questions:

  1. Will Vaseline break down the leather on the breeches?  (And if so, how quickly?)
  2. Is there any other kind of lubricant that would work as well, and last as long, that would *not* cause a problem with the leather.
