I leave mine on 24/7 - Have half wood fencing and half metal pipe
fencing, and haven't had any problems. I use the Supermask's and they
will usually pull off fairly easily if they get stuck on something (or
if another horse grabs/removes them).  The horses seem to be able to
see well enough with them on, even at night.
