[RC] Ultium Feed - mkrumlaw

This is probably a question for the Linderman's, The voice of Purina in
our area. However, I think I can answer your basic questions, though may
not be able to give the reason.

I'm pretty sure any Purina dealer wanting to carry Ultium DOES have to go
through a training program. I've attended the rider/trainer program and
found it very informative.

I'm not sure why someone would want to feed Ultium unless they were using
their horse for some form of athletic activity. It's developed to help
maintain a constant energy level instead of the highs then lows of most
feeds. Protein levels in Ultium are lower than most premium feeds and
the fat content is higher.

I have all of my new horses on Ultium and love it. There are four of
them, 3 Arabs, and a Morab. Ages 4, 5, 5, & 7. All being trained for
endurance. I've noticed that they are actually calmer and more focused
on the Ultium than their previous feeds. Of my other endurance friends
who have switched, I've not heard of a horse getting more high strung on
the Ultium.
