Re: [RC] OT-For Women Only - Born Country

Oh, man......I had one of those and it was the
absolute BEST decision I've ever made. I had mine
done vaginally, no cutting, no splicing, no stitches.
When I woke up from the anastesia (sp) I thought they
hadn't done anything! I was released from the
hospital and told that I was only allowed to go from
the bed to the couch for the next week, then after
that, can only go up and down stairs once a day. My
doctor informed me that often, women, because they are
in no discomfort (and I mean NONE!) will try to do
more than they should. That's when they get into
trouble and do intestinal damage. I was riding within
a month of the surgery with my doctor's blessing.

I had one girlfriend that did not heed her doctor's
orders and went shopping, then dancing a couple of
days after being discharged from the hospital. She
ended up flat on her back for 2 weeks, then a much
slower recovery after that.

If you elect to have the surgery, talk to your doctor
about the vaginal type, then just relax for the next
few weeks and let everyone wait on you hand and foot!

Please share. This is an issue coming up for me
this year and I've had
"bad" advice (such as people telling me I'll be laid
up for weeks and weeks
and to forget about riding for months) and
encouraging advice (such as if I
take care of myself, am as fit as I can be before
and start exercising again
as soon as the dr. says after, that I should
recuperate quickly and be back
riding "in no time"....does anyone even know how
long "in no time" really
is?). I would love to hear from others also who
have had hysterectomies...
