And I'll add to that...

1) if I am asked: I basically say go home, work it out later as I
  know nothing of what your award might be.

2) if they ask Steph, she'll go get the awards and wish
  them a good trip, visiting as happens from time to time.

I think 2) is much more appreciated by tired riders:)

This last ride, we started the 30Milers at 12 noon, so they
finished about the time of everyone else (except the 100s) - it
basically removed the problem.

Starting the LDs at noon had effects. As most of the LDs
were from within 2 hours driving, they tended to come on ride day
rather than the night before. We had to make sure VetIn was easily
accomplished on ride day. The riders had the morning to set-up and be 
ready for 1st night camping following the ride. so they tended to 
stay Saturday night.

It was an interesting twist.
