[RC] power ponies - Nancy

I am a bit behind in my ridecamp reading, but wanted to address this
subject. My daughter rides Lyric who is 14.1, maybe 14.2 when the ferrier
arrives. She is a Bask/Profire gray who is tougher then shoe leather. She
can out trot my 15.2 hand National Show Horse or anything else on the
planet. Lyric will drink any available water on the trail and eats well.
She is now all business on the trail. Lyric even kicked my horse to the
ground while they were both tied to a tree. (Needless to say they do not
get pastured together, ever.) Lyric can pack my big behind around all day
then do gymkhana the next. She is one tough cookie. And she loves
Danielle.
Our neighbor, Corrine rides a Welsh/Conammara cross, Merrylegs. She is one
smart pony and is very wise. Mery stopped for over 30 minutes at the Turkey
Trot last year. She just would not take another step. Well, Merry had a
reason, her heart was skipping beats. I have come to learn that some ponies
will have abnormal heart rhythmus and just need a lighter work load. Sorry
to say, but we will no longer take Merry on endurance or CTR rides. So sad
as the two little gray ponies were so good together with the two girls that
love them.
