This race has been going on for a great many years, and has been killing
horses for a great many years.  One of the biggest problems in getting
land permissions, etc. for endurance rides in the early days was that
people thought our rides were like Omak, and we often had to talk like
dutch uncles to convince people otherwise to have the opportunity to put
on events.

Sorry to hear it is still going on.
