[RC] Living in Texas - Suzanne Ticer

We life in the Hill Country in Johnson City, Blanco county, located southwest of Austin, north of San Antonio and love it.  Lots of hills, rocks, and trees, taxes are very reasonable.  We live close to the Pedernales State Park which has about 13 miles of  horse trails to ride.  The right of way on the rode we life on is very wide and safe, and we can do loops of up to 20 plus miles.

The riding season in Texas is a little different than the rest of the country as far as I can tell.  We have at least two rides each month  from January to Memorial Day and from Labor Day to the end of December.  There usually are only a couple of rides during the summer because temperatures get in the 90+ and humidity is about the same.  In Texas you have to electrolyte, electrolyte, electrolyte.

The one thing you have to remember when moving to Texas is that is is a long way to any other state unless you live near a border.  But in Texas, a one way trip of four hours is a day trip.

The added attraction is of course all  of the great endurance riders you get to ride with and all the great places you get to ride.
