[RC] LBL, OK I wimped! - rides2far

Wow, amazing how many people want to know if I went. Nope. Just chillin',
high and dry. :-) Did talk to Dave Bennett this morning. He did the 50
Friday. Said it didn't rain for the first 30 miles but then it got
bad...very slick, could be dangerous. He said he walked 8 of the last 10
miles and still got 9th. I think 18 started, 12 completed, Bud Davidson
won a race-off to the finish against a "female" is all I heard. The clay
up there seems to have a "special" quality of slick & sticky that I
always thought was tougher to deal with than War Eagle's mud which
everyone seemed to think set the standard. I think a *really*
insteresting job for the SERA scales would have been to weigh a horse at
the finish and then scrape all the mud off his belly and squeegee out the
tail, clean 4 hooves and see how much lighter he was!

Dave said he thought about 25 were starting the 50 today.

In my defense for wimping out...I had 2 goals there. One was to see if
accupuncture changed anything for Kaboot. I couldn't have seen that in
extreme conditions. The other was to help get myself ready for Biltmore
100 next weekend and a 3rd degree case of diaper rash wouldn't have
helped *that* cause any. >g< So if Jody can keep her horse from getting
hit by lightning or a tornado hopefully I'll be fit to ride her. By the
way, my neighbor probably thinks I've become a total pothead because I've
been sitting on the porch burning that dumb Moxa Stick holding it up to
my knees trying to do all I can to help. :-P

P.S. Didn't even get to read a good book...just working on a slide show
for Senior Day Thurs...before I skip town!

The bigger they are, the farther you fall.
