RE: [RC] [RC] THIN saddle pads for english saddle - Laurie Durgin

I bought some western wool pads, the big navaho ones , 100% wool, and cut them to fit one of my saddles and bound the edges and added ties...someone who sews can do it for you if you don't.

(gee, with all the posting I've been doing lately, can you tell I'm trying to get my gear in order for the first ride in a little over two weeks?)

I posted the other week about saddle pad options for an English saddle. A lot of people recommended wool pads, and I was able to get a Toklat pad on clearance from Sporttack. Lovely pad, way too thick. My saddle fits great right now - the pad may work if my horse looses more weight and the saddle becomes a touch wide, but right now the pad disrupts the balance of the saddle.

Since HRH (her royal highness) has sensisitive skin, I want to stick to natural fibers as much as possible (wool or cotton). Does anyone know where I could get a thinner wool pad, or have suggestions on cotton pads that hold up to the level of riding we do (and if I can clean them in the washing machine, so much the better)?

Thanks

Karen and Mazzie
