Soem guys would say:  if you have a warm hand you can find out.  I could not bring my self to say that.   I did a parade one yr on horseback and played the bagpipes.  Was an interesting experience. That was my first endurance horse.   mas

My husband (a Scot and a rider) who wears a kilt (men,
you have NO IDEA how good any man looks in a kilt) has
two responses to that question:

Response #1 - Socks and shoes, socks and shoes

and

Response #2 - Nothings worn, it's all in perfect
working order.
