We lined our whole tongue & groove barn with hardware cloth. We stapled
it to the wall and it has worked great. About once a year I check the loose
places and re-staple it. They can't chew the wood now. But, they do have an
annoying habit of raking their teeth across the hardware cloth while I am
getting their food ready.
