[RC] hoof wear on barefoot endurance horse between rides - Dreamweaver

Has anybody used hoof armor ( http://hoofarmor.com/ ) or any other product on their horses bare feet to reduce wear? Five weeks ago we pulled Chief's shoes, and since then he's been barefoot. I have put the new Easyboot Epics on his feet for rides, and he has completed a total of 305 miles or 6 days of 50 (one 55) mile endurance rides in that time. The boots are working out really well for him (these new boots are wonderful). The problem is what to do inbetween the rides. Maybe if I ride him in enough rides he'll have the boots on often enough that his feet won't wear down (kidding). ;) Between rides he is turned out 24x7 on hard dirt, with rocks and he is quite an active little horse.

I know that the amount of work he gets probably will help a lot with hoof growth, though I can already tell that it isn't going to keep up with how active he is and how the ground at home is going to wear down his feet between rides. I don't want him to get sore. I'd like to hear from anybody that has used it if there any tips on applying it besides what comes in the product literature, and also how many coats should we us the first time? I would like to hear if there are any other products that people might recommend. (besides putting shoes back on him, which is always an option if this doesn't work out, but so far so good, knocking on wood) Thanks,

Karen
