My husband has a habit of riding his mtn bike off-
trail through meadows with all kinds of grasses,
the burred-seeds of which would attach themselves
to his socks which would then go in the laundry
and I'd sit at work the next day picking burrs
out of my bra.

Having gotten sick of this, I made him wear gaiters
over his socks and they worked a charm. He got them
from a local trail running store.

I could have used them on Saturday for when I got
off and "ran" in the sand in NV (and, incidentally,
noticed that last year's Virginia City 100 winner
wore gaiters over her riding shoes during that ride).

Do a web search on "run gaiters" - many trail runners
use them.
