[RC] Preventing injury from becoming wind puff - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Hello All,
I'm hoping I can get some advice from all of you experienced
horse owners. My 3 yr old filly (future endurance horse) injured
herself in pasture about 8 weeks ago. Rear leg swollen from
pastern to hock, lots of heat. I kept her confined & wrapped, I
iced & poulticed her daily for the 1st 3 weeks or so. I finally
took her to the vet since it wasn't improving as quickly as I'd
hoped. Vet ultrasounded and found no damage to the tendons and
told me to keep doing what I have been doing for 2 more weeks
then wean her off wrap and return her to pasture. Well she's
improved but still puffy and warm above the pastern.

Any advice on reducing the swelling to 0? I'm afraid this may become a
permanent blemish on my otherwise perfect filly!

I'm trying to avoid another trip to the vet as I've had mucho
vet bills during the past year with my endurance (or former)
endurance horse.

Thanks,
Karen H.
