Paying attention to posture not only of your spine but also of your wrists when using a key board for an extended period of time along with taking breaks and stretching can many times prevent carpal tunnel.  Subluxation of the bones in the wrist from this repetitive stress can also cause these symptoms.  Chiropractic adjustments maybe able to help or prevent carpal tunnel also there are some good methods of myofacial release(breaks the adhesions that have formed in the muscle) that can help some symptoms.  Two of these methods are A.R.T. and Grafston.  Just something else to think about if you haven't tried it.
