I had a great little horse that was about that size and my husband finished a close second in a 50 miler on him. Husband's weight and tack would have been about 195#. I rode him for many years and I am a "solid middleweight."

well, from a guy's perspective:  i think women look a lot better with a little meat on their bones!  a woman with a butt smaller than mine just doesnt really look right to me.  but hey, to each his own!
your health should be the main issue, i think.   and i dont bash vegenarians, either!  i figure it leaves more lean red for cowboy ed!  i have the kind of teeth in my mouth to handle it.
 
now, to keep this on topic,  how much weight is too much weight?   lets use a typical ayrab horse in our example.  one in peak physical condition, and lets just say 14.3 hands and 850 lbs.   what should be the maximum weight that a  horse like this should carry while doing a 50 mile endurance ride?    cowboy ed
