[RC] Weight Loss - Changing Divisions - Carolyn Burgess

If you are really concerned about crossing a boundary
during a ride year (being heavy isn't an issue, being
light is), then register for the lower division at the
beginning of the year and ride heavy. I encountered
the same problem two years ago. I registered as a
middleweight, thinking that you had to be exactly
right on weight (I had a heavier saddle and weighed
about 190 with tack). I didn't realize that you
couldn't ride heavy and when I started to lose my
winter weight (I gain about 10lbs every winter - lose
every spring), I realized that I should be riding as a
lightweight. So I changed divisions before the ride
season.
