Re: [RC] OF Booties - Jon . Linderman

My experience with booties is a bit different.  I ride in a OF stitchdown with the older longer panels (maybe 22"?).  For a while I did use just booties, but at shore to shore two years ago I found that repeated days of riding I needed more padding.  got some rubbing, though nothing bad at all.  so since then I use a toklat pad against his back with the booties and we've been hunky dory since then.  it may also be a function of the fact that I am perhaps bigger than other people who use booties alone (195-200)  & I'll be the 1st to admit that I did not grown up on a horse, suffer from the x/y chromosome combination, AND my form of equitation is positioning the horse between me and the ground. love the saddle, love the booties, but I do use an additional pad.

I too, have a OF Cutback Endurance with booties....used it for years just as
it came to me new...booties only, gives my horses plenty of pad and fits
perfectly...never had any slippage, rubbing or soreness on any of my horses
in that saddle...I think the design is pretty darn good
