[RC] LD rides in NE - Brian & Sara Minsk

Thanks for everyone's response.

I did join ECTRA this year. However, the people I have talked to (endurance riders) commented that there is a lot of waiting involved and standing around in these competitive rides. Also, I think it might be more subjective than endurance. Lastly, I have a barefoot horse and up until recently I don't think I could have competed. Now, I understand I can only use a certain boot and, of course, the hoof boots that I currently own (that weren't cheap) would be illegal! Figures!

I just like the no nonsense approach of endurance where there aren't so many rules. I like that it rewards the best conditioned athlete. I think to do well in endurance (finish with a happy, sound horse) requires the rider to be the ultimate horsewoman and I find that challenge intriguing!

Plus, I think being at an endurance LD ride would help to inspire me and keep me motivated. I could watch the 50 and 100 milers and learn a lot. It's always nice to feel like you are part of something bigger than just your riding level. : )

Sara
