[RC] Rides of March / Karen Chaton's report - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I'm not going to get into a "he said - she said",
but -- I have been riding Nevada rides, TOUGH rides,
including all the hard 100's, since 1988, with an
exceptional completion record. This is same record
for at least two of the other "Rider Options" at
Saturday's "Rides of March". I had a lot of time to
think about this (since the ride management had
forgotten to come get me at the "lunch check", and
we had to track them down on a cell phone and have
the vet remind them we were still out there, and
finally got back to camp at 8:30 P.M.).
I take extreme exception to being accused of showing
up to the ride with an underconditioned horse. This
goes for the other Rider Options as well. Statistics
cannot be negated - Rides of March started 60 horses
for the 50 miler. 24 (40%) were either pulled or
opted for a Rider Option. I completed the first two
years, on the original Rides of March trail, with no
problems. I was not going to get involved in this -
but Karen's comments take the proverbial cake!
Oh, and by the way, I created and donated the artwork
for the completion awards, one of which Karen received
- my intentions began on a very positive note.
An apology is in order to those of us who took care of
our horses, and were congratulated and thanked REPEATEDLY
by the veterinarian for our horsemanship. Even though
we were urged by ride management to "run on in" - we
made our decisions in favor of our horses.
AT LEAST STATISTICS NEVER LIE!
