[RC] Rides of March - First 50 - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Just completed my first 50 at the Rides of March, and it was incredible. It
looked deceptively easy for about the first 25 miles, and then we reached THE
HILL. Deep sand at a steep incline,
with snow at the top. Several horses pulled after finishing this
part. We took our time, though, and Shaba pulled through just
fine; all A's at all of his vet checks, although he was tired the last 15
miles. He is happily running
around at home now, while his mom is SORE. Need to concentrate
more on the people conditioning. A special thanks to my farrier,
Frank Smith, for such a wonderful job on his hooves (and for all
of those emergency jobs for lost shoes in the mud); as well as
Char Antuzzi (hope I spelled your name right!) for the riding
company on the last section of the ride as well as the post-ride
advice on taking care of the horse's legs. I am sure Shaba will
appreciate that in the rides to come!! Great ride management, vets, FOOD, and a
very challenging and fun ride. Looking forward
to my next one (once the stiffness goes away from this one)

Lauretta and Shaba (So that was a 50? Why are YOU sore?? Who was
the one running through the whole doggone thing?)
