[RC] Torn tendon sheath - Patti Kuvik

My mare tore her LH tendon sheath about a year ago just out playing. (Just
as she was getting sound from a shoulder pull - bad fall, horse vs Brahama
bull grazing too close to her pen) I finally had it ultrasounded (she's
Peruvian, I was procrastinating because I was araid of the dreaded DSLD) and
her tendon looks great, but it showed the tear in the sheath. The vet said
they don't close and to consider it cosmetic - she has a knot there - vet
said it's from fluid accumlating at the tear site but that it shouldn't
affect the function of the tendon itself. She's going perfectly
sound now but I'm hesitant to ride her, she's only green
broke and wants to gait 90 miles an hour (work is what she needs).
I'm not really sure what my question is - just I haven't been able to find
anything about torn tendon sheaths, just on bows and tendon tears.
Boy, any information and experience on this would really be appreciated.

Thanks,

Patti Kuvik
