a  note from personal experience. some horses are very sensitive to the bleach, kind of like pouring alcohol on a cut. no biggee but does burn. they may kick!

Another very cost effective way to treat the thrush is a bleach/water mixture... I mixed it up 75/25 (others may do it differently) in a used water bottle (easy to squirt it out on the hoofs from that).  I pick the hoof and then brush it out (works best the cleaner the foot is) then squirt the bleach mix right into the hoof, hold it up so that it gets to sit in there for a couple of seconds before you put it down.  Treat that way for 2-3 days, then once weekly as needed.  It does a great job!
