[RC] curb bits - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I've been using a Billy Allen curb bit with my mare for several years now. It
is the only curb that I know of that allows independent cheek action AND also
provides traditional curb control. The bit is jointed but has a locking barrel
in the middle that stabilizes the bit and prevents any nutcracker effect. If
you use one rein, the cheek piece on the corresponding side will move
independent of the other cheek piece. If you use equal pressure on both reins,
the barrel will lock in the middle of the bit and will produce a normal curb
action. I love this bit and have shown successfully in it and have ridden 4 50s
with it, with a relaxed, attentive horse. I highly recommend this bit for
anyone who wants the benefits of a snaffle and the control of a curb. Its the
best of both worlds! I got mine from the Frontier Western Shop in Alberta, for
about 45 bucks.
