Re: [RC] Mares - Rae Callaway

I really feel that my mare loves me instead of just tolerates me. There was
a time in the early years when she wasn't interested in attention and
petting, but now, when she sees me, she comes up to the fence and is pretty
insistent about it. I just love the bond I have with this mare. I'm deaf
and somehow she has figured out that and she really takes care of me out on
the trail. She's more alert than any horse I've ever ridden, but as soon as
I tell her that a certain obstacle or bogey is safe, she completely relaxes
and goes on my word. It's really cool. She's about to foal now and I'm
riding one of her sons, a 4 year old on his first year of all this. I'm
really starting to realize how special the bond I have with Scarlet is as
riding General sometimes seems like we're on totally different wavelengths,
and with Scarlet, we seem to share the same brain (if that makes any sense)

How does one tell if a mare loves you versus tolerates
you? Can anyone explain the fine-line difference? I
have a mare and wonder about this very question often
times.

I'm on archives only list so can't reply privately
unless you type out your email as xxxx at xxxx dot com
or whatever.
