[RC] changeable gullet alert - GoTory

Just a caution to those who ride Wintecs or others with the changeable
gullet...
I recently had a minimally used Wintec Isabell on trial which had a medium
wide gullet on it. When I tried to change the gullet plate to a wider one, I
found the metal plate to which it screws was broken on one side. The lower
piece was stuck in the pocket the plate slides into and only the top half came
out.
There was no indication from the condition of the saddle that anything had
happened to it. Very little wear, no scuffs in the tree area at all. The gal
who had it rides dressage primarily and mainly used it in the winter.
This may have been a "fluke", but would encourage those who use these saddles
to maybe check their own for possible problems. Those fractured points were
sharp, and could possibly do some damage to either the horse or the saddle.
