[RC] round shoe - Karen Parker

The vet may have meant half rounds or egg bars or who knows. Your farrier is just guessing what the vet may have meant. As a farrier of over 33 yrs I have learned to call the vet myself to find out exactly what they wanted. If a vet makes a suggestion get them to write it down so you don't have the communication problem. He may have felt the horse needed more support to the rear so was suggesting egg bars. If she has good walls you might try the Ground Control plastic shoes as they have a rolled toe and are harder for her to pull off than a steel or aluminum egg bar. You can leave them longer in the heel as they tend to flex and snap back into place when a horse steps on them. Hope this helps, Karen Parker
