Re: [RC] [RC] tank heaters - Michelle Fink

Hi,

I bought a propane tank heater this year. Trojan Manufacturing makes the
heater. You have to have a pretty big trough or it will overheat it :-)

The heater costs about as much to run as an electric heater for a 100
gallon, so it's fairly efficient, and it's working like a dream. I have it
setup to supply defrosted water for two paddocks. It would have cost me
*minimally* $2500 to get electricity to my barn plus lots of grunt work.
This setup cost me about $1000 (400 gallon trough, 400 g. hauling tank, 100#
propane tank, and the heater) and I didn't need help to install it.

I also like that it's portable in case I need to relocate it, and the tank
and trough will get used at summer NATRC rides in our area. It was a great
solution for my pasture and I'm super-pleased with it.

Happy Trails,
Michelle
