Re: [RC] minimum age for kids? - heidi

Its one thing to bring along a little kid if you're really experienced,
its completely another if you are a newbie along with your little kid.
If you are doing your first 50 that is not the time to bring a junior
rider along.....Alice, do a 50 first and judge what you will be
subjecting your daughter to. That is the only way to know if you are
conditioning appropriately. I would no way bring my kid out for a 50
if it was also MY first 50 (way too paranoid for that!).

At the risk of posting a "me, too" post--this is REALLY good advice! The
families who have happy and successful juniors of younger ages are
families who ride regularly and whose kids have already been watching
parents and sometimes older siblings doing this. I'd not only suggest
doing a distance first before taking your child, I'd go one step further
and suggest being very solid and comfortable at that distance yourself
before taking your child.

Heidi
