RE: [RC] Training for rides in Auburn area - Ranelle Rubin

If you get to Cool, head back down the old Tevis trail (cross Hwy 49 @
the Quarry)..when you get to the river road turn right.(you will know
you are there as it is clearly a dirt road and not a trail) Do not take
any of the right hand turns before the road. Follow the road until you
see a marked trail called Brown's Bar. Follow that trail uphill until
you see the Robie trail sign on your right. You will know you are there
as it is one steep %^*& trail..It is not as steep the rest of the way
however. When you get to the top of that trail, take all the right hand
turns until you get back to the original Tevis trail..If you want to
join me one day, I will happily show you the way...

Please Reply to: Lauretta tikitiki69@xxxxxxxxxxx or

I trailer my horse over the Auburn Staging area by the fairgrounds every
2-3 weeks and do a loop from there to the Cool firehouse and back. It
gives him a fairly good workout, but I would like to 'up' his degree of
trail difficulty to prepare him for more difficult terrain that may
occur on some of the rides, as well as longer distances (I estimate the
loop to be @ 16 miles). What sections of the Western States trail in
that area have the most challenging terrain, and would it be a good idea
to try these sections with someone who knows the trail the first time?
Also, where can I get a detailed map of these sections?? Appreciate any
help.....
