[RC] Fit Mare - Benedikte Whitman

The first 50 I did with my gelding was a real "come to Jesus" for him. I
had done NATRC and some LD with him and they were rough on me - especially
staying slow enough for NATRC. At the endurance 50, lunch was in camp
after 25 miles - so he thought he was done. When I went back out and
saddled him, the shock on his face was so pronounced I had to laugh.

That 2nd loop really was hard on us both - mostly becasue it takes a long
time to go when your horse spends the whole time looking backwards to camp
and zig zagging from one side of the trail to the other and looking over
his shoulder. He went slower than any slow moving horse I have ever
ridden with, and I actually got off and dragged him up some hills becasue
I could walk up faster than he would.

The couple of times I have ridden him since then, he has been very
restained - for him. I am hoping that the shock was so great he might
just start thinking about conserving energy just in case it might be a
long ride.
