 I say hand out water pistols with maybe vinagar in them ? Or purple dye?
  I have 5 dogs,but one young  one has a death wish and when the horses are 
in the yard grazing he occasionally starts to run snapping at them. (his 
aggressiveness is on it's way to being neutered shortly).
That said.I have problems with a neighbors dogs coming under my fence and 
chasing the horses,all ran but the older one. They even ran my 2 yr old thru 
a electric cross fence.
 We mentioned it to the neighbor (again, had a problem 2 yrs. ago too). 
They just had young dogs from a litter  the daughter had and they are at the 
end of the road,and she lets them out sometimes(as they chase the mom's car 
down the road).They both work, but the dogs just 'hang out' sometimes when 
they aren't home.
  I reserve the right to protect my horses, dogs , kids , and property.If 
someones "li'l darlin'" attempst to harm any of the above I will do what I 
have to to stop it.And I like dogs, cats, etc.But I will like them ,even 
when I am protecting mine be it with a water gun,bb gun,rock, stick, mace.
One of those,your right to wave your hand around, only extends to the end of 
my nose, not further kind of things.  Laurie (now I didn't start this one
