Re: [RC] first saddles - Sisu West Ranch

Assuming you have a saddle that fits you and your horse reasonably well, use it for the first year. If you must get a used saddle on a budget, haunt local tack shops and watch want adds. You can never tell what will show up.

Give preference to "endurance" and lighter saddles. If you are comming from an English tradition look for English saddles, if you are from a Western tradition, English type saddles will drive you nutz until you relearn to ride.

NOTE: I am not implying that any English saddle is good or bad, I just feel that learning to ride a different type saddle is to much to add to the first year of competition.
