[RC] A Turkey Trot Story - Jonni

What is even more cool (to me anyway) is that Suzy Kelly breeds and raises
these horses that she does endurance on. She does not do it to sell
necessarily, but to have a horse to ride competitively, that she had ridden
its mother, and its grandmother etc. She is not a big time breeder, with a
huge amount of horses or acreage. She does this in So. Cal. with a limited
size property. All he horses are well mannered, and you can tell she loves
each one as if it were her only horse, not just "another horse from the
ranch". She is also one of the most balanced riders out there doing
endurance. She just rides "pretty". (comes from a show ring background). I
believe that contributes so much to her ability to be so competitive. She
is also an excellent competitor, that trains hard, and does well. She knows
all the ins and outs of endurance, and is no fool out there on the trail.
But her horses are all top rate.

I wish I had seen her mare respond to her calling it towards the finish
line. It is wonderful to see anyone's horse respond to its owner that
way...but especially after going 50 miles in a winning time frame. I wish I
had that relationship with all of mine.....I'll keep working on it.
