[RC] Kansas riders--deer season - Chris PausHeads up Kansas riders... Deer hunting season (rifle) starts today and goes through Dec. 12. Today, opening day, and the weekends will be the worst. Please be careful where you ride and wear some blaze orange! If I could get my trailer out of the mud without tearing up my yard, I'd go up to some of the city equestrian parks where hunting is not allowed or I could trailer over to my local state park where there is a 6 mile safe zone to ride where hunting is not allowed. But the ground is so soft and squishy from all the rain we've had, that I'm not taking my horse trailer out unless there's a true emergency. It would tear up my lawn something awful. We've had 20 days of precip in November! I can't ride on the roads because idiot hunters shoot across the roads. I can't ride in my own pastures, it's just too soggy and muddy and the footing is terrible. So I guess I'm stuck at home. I'll try to catch up on some of the things that have gone begging to be done around here and it will be a good time to start working more with the colts now that they are weaned and hanging out calmly with grandpa Szybki.
