[RC] Birth Control for Mustangs? - Judy Houle

Haven't they done some type of sterilization to other
animal populations by way of shots or putting out
something they eat to sterilize them? Couldn't that
be done with Mustangs? Or capturing and castrating
males? Something to cut down on these populations.
The other solution is to increase their popularity for
adoption by a public relations campaign to make them
more desireable. They are featured at expos but they
could do more than sit in stalls like Robin Hood and
Sir Kai did at the Western States Expo. I saw a
presentation of Baroque Horses which include Spanish
Mustangs that was impressive. Magazine ads featuring
champion mustangs would be good too. I have a set of
trading cards that feature champion mustangs including
Mustang Lady, that I got at an expo. They were in all
disciplines from cutting to dressage. The three
adoptions rule is not good, too many good ones get
passed up just based on color. I went to one near me
and all the colorful ones were gone by the second day.
I saw plenty of outstanding looking ones remaining.
