[RC] [RC] endurance vs. CTR - Deanna German

Easy boots are allowed and there is an effort underway to at least discuss
other booting options as well as equipment like Bell boots to keep the level
playing field we all hear about.

Alice, the reason that EZ Boots are allowed under all of the CTR rules that
I am aware of is because they don't cover the coronet band, the heel bulb or
the pastern. Most other protective boots cover more than just the hoof.

Point deductions are taken for trail lesions. Bell boots would protect
against those, so I really can't see them being approved anytime soon. I
believe UMECRA allows protective boots, but point deductions are taken
automatically. (Jeannie? Help on this one?) Under OAATS rules, the horse can
wear protective boots and wraps, but then they are removed from eligibility
for placing. (IOW, just going for career miles.)

Even though I don't do NATRC, and even though I'm not a long-time
competitor, put me in that "don't want to change this one" column. :-)

Deanna in Ohio, who does mostly OAATS CTR.
