No.  Go for it. Condition her a bit and go.  A LD isn't all that hard, especially if you're not in a big hurry.

Has anyone heard of starting a green 18 year old on slow LD's?
This mare has spent most of her time on large acreage and has not been ridden much.
She's sound, fiesty and as an Aulrab daughter has her dad's huge, powerful trot.
What do you guys think?  Is she too old?
